My dear friends, how are you really doing?
These days, it feels like the world is stretching us thin โ emotionally, mentally, spiritually. Iโve been waking up lately with that familiar tightness in my chest, that old visitor anxiety, gripping me just like it used to in years past. And I know Iโm not alone. Many of you might be navigating a tangled web of emotions: fear, grief, uncertainty, alongside the daily rhythms of life that keep spinning regardless.
So today, I want to pause and check in with you. No grand advice or solutionsโjust a moment to say: I see you. And if you want, Iโm here to share the weight.
Passing the Stress Along
When I was struggling in my twenties, a dear friend Lina offered a simple, yet powerful comfort. She said, โGive me your stress, give me your stress,โ while motioning with her hands as if to pull it from me and hold it for a moment. That gesture, that invitation, felt like a balm to my weary heart.
So, I want to offer the same to you. If you feel burdened, overwhelmed, or just plain exhausted by everything swirling around you, leave a comment or a message here. Hand me your stress. Iโll gladly hold some of it with you, if only for a little while.
The Light in Small Things
Amidst the heaviness, itโs important to notice those little sparks of light โ the glimmers that remind us life can still surprise us with softness and joy.
Maybe you caught the scent of spring flowers this morning. Maybe you bit into a juicy purple plum and the burst of flavor made you smile. Perhaps you spotted a tiny dog trotting happily down the street, blissfully unaware of the worldโs troubles.
If you have these small moments to share, please do. They matter more than we often realize.
Five Questions to Reflect On
If youโd like, here are some gentle questions you can ponder or share with me and others. Theyโre simple, but sometimes the simplest questions open the door to connection:
- Something youโre looking forward to: Whatโs a bright spot on your horizon, no matter how small?
- A worry thatโs keeping you up at night: Whatโs that persistent thought or fear that lingers?
- Your current or childhood nickname: What name do you carry from the past or present that holds meaning?
- A TV show youโre watching or book youโre reading: What stories are keeping you company these days?
- Something you like about yourself, big or small: Whatโs one thingโno matter how tinyโthat you appreciate about who you are?
A Moment of Joy
On a lighter note, I have to share a little joy thatโs been making me laugh lately. My 11-year-old Anton has been delighting in slang, and the word โcheeksโ is his new favorite. Heโll say things like, โMy new haircut is cheeks,โ or โI did cheeks on my humanities quiz.โ Itโs hilarious, especially since he uses it interchangeably with โbuns.โ Such simple words, but they bring a burst of playful energy into everyday life.
An Invitation to Compassion
In these difficult times, itโs also crucial to remember those who are suffering beyond what many of us can imagine. My dear friend Linsey has organized a fundraiser to support children and families in Gaza. If youโre able, please consider joining us in donating. Thereโs also a silent auction featuring some wonderful itemsโadding up to a sort of grown-up talent show thatโs heartwarming and hopeful.
Letโs Keep Talking
So, my loves, how are you? Truly. Iโm here, listening, holding space for your stories, your worries, and your joys.
Sending you the biggest, warmest hug through these words. Thank you for being here, for reading, for sharing a piece of yourself. It means more than I can say.
Letโs keep the conversation going.
